"Study of a Seated Figure" at the Mims Gallery

Study of a Seated Figure is in the "10th Anniversary Exhibition" at the Mims Gallery at North Carolina Wesleyan College. The exhibition includes over forty artists, and runs from January 20 - March 12, 2006. (the opening is at 7 p.m.Friday, January 20).

Two New Paintings

Abraham Brewster, Study of two female figures, 2006

Two new paintings are very close to done; they should be on the website within the week. (Click on the image for a larger view).

Studies and Other Paintings

I have added a page of studies and other paintings to the website. These pictures, for a number of reasons, are not included with the main "body of work," but I thought they might be interesting to see, and hear (or read) comments about. Essentially, they are explorations: of technique, of formal matters, of ideas, and also for fun. You can get to the page here.

New Painting

Abraham Brewster, Crisscross, 2006

Abraham Brewster, Title to Come, 2005. Oil on canvas, 30 x 40 inches.

Visitors during "Art Under the Bridge" saw this painting within a few days of being finished, which it now is. I do not have a title yet, but it will be on the website shortly.

Update: It now is.

Art Under the Bridge / Thank You

Art Under the Bridge, as last year, was a great
success. To everyone who visited over the weekend, thank you for coming and
looking at the work, and supporting D.U.M.B.O. artists in general. It is always
great to see the neighborhood open up and see the amazing quantity and quality
of the work done within a few blocks of the D.A.C.. I
heard a lot of interesting comments about my work which will keep me thinking
for a while. I will also keep those who joined my mailing list updated about

Sum and Span Published

Sum and Span were awarded a 1-page featured display in this fall's edition of "Direct Art."

More Open Studios Info (October 15-16)

Art Under the Bridge Festival: October 14-16

My Studio will be open on Saturday and Sunday; technically the hours of open studios are 12-6 pm, but mine will be open a bit earlier, and probably later, if last year's festival was any
indication. You will be able to see some of the older work from the show in Chelsea, as well as newer work, some which has not yet had a chance to hit my website yet, and some paintings in progress. So if you are free, stop by, have an apple, and enjoy the festival: it is really something to see.

Two Studies

I have added two new paintings to the 2005 page: a study of a seated figure, and a study of a head. They, along with a number of studies that may or may not appear on the website, have been instrumental in arriving at my newest painting which I hope to have finished by Art

Art Under the Bridge: October 14-16.

.
It's that time of year again! The Art Under the Bridge Festival is October 14-16. My studio will be open on Saturday and Sunday; 10am - 6pm. There will be new work to see; as well as some of the older. I will post some new images soon.

Labor Day Update

There will be quite a bit of news in the coming
weeks, including information about the Affordable Art Fair,
Merge
going on the road, and
Span
getting published. Also, after a few false
starts, I have a new set of paintings developing. I soon may post some images of
some studies that have happened on the way.

Of course, my studio will be open during

Study of A Head & Merge

You may have noticed that Study of a
Head
and Merge
are now on the site. I am now working on a big picture which is again, somewhat
of a departure. I am about half-done, I think, though at least for me, it is
always uncertain. Stay
tuned...
.

Thank You.

To
everyone who visited the exhibit at KMG over the last six weeks and supported
the work, thank you. It was a great success, I have learned a lot from, and have
been deeply flattered by responses to the work. A special thanks to those who
left comments and addresses in the book. I will keep you informed about more
goings-on in the near future. (If you would like to be on the mailing list,

Good News / Bad News

Well, I've got good news, and bad
news.

The bad
news
is that the solo show is packed up, and
ready to ship
out.
.

The
good news is
that I will have another painting in KMG's Group Show which opens Saturday (June 4).

Show Booklets

Thanks to "iPhoto," I have been able to put
together a booklet of the
paintings
from
2004-2005 shown at KMG. If you would like a copy, I would be happy to have one
made and shipped to you. If you are interested, visit the booklet
page
to order one, or just contact
me.
If I find that there is interest in this sort of thing, I might
