Apparition at the Pouch Cove Foundation Auction

Apparition will be up for auction at the Pouch Cove Foundation Fundraiser in Toronto. Details are available on the Pouch Cove website.

Abraham Brewster, Apparition, 2006, Oil on Canvas 30 x 40 inches

Two New Paintings

Abraham Brewster, Ruin, 2006. Oil on canvas, 48 x 84 inches.

Two new paintings have made it, at long last, onto the 2006 page: Ruin and Memoir. Ruin is particularly large; four by seven feet. I rearranged the home-page to let it have the space it demanded.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all who visit. 2007 has a few things in store, but nothing final yet. I will keep the site up-to-date on goings-on, however.

There are two paintings almost finished in the studio; they should be arriving on the site soon. One is very large (4 x 7 feet), another, same as many others, 30 x 40 inches, but more experimental in nature.

It's that time of year again!

2006 Page Updated with New Paintings

The 2006 Page has been updated with the four pictures painted in Newfoundland: Say It Aint So, I Have Looked, I Know, Apparition, and Cove. (entire review below...)

Review at the Telegram...and Farewell to Newfoundland

Karla Hayward at the Telegram reviewed my show in St. John's: you can read the review "Stretching Boundaries" here.

"[Bodies that are] are most often faceless, headless and anonymous but, like most great art, they evoke deep feelings in the viewer. Complicated feelings, but deep ones." Say It Aint So was illustrated, and she also discussed I Have Looked, I Know, Apparition, and Cove.. I am very pleased with (and honored by) the review and reception up north.

An enormous thank you is due to James Baird and the Pouch Cove Foundation, the other artists who were with me (more on them anon), and to all who attended the opening and who continue to view the work: the exhibition remains open until the 25th.

A very, very, fond farewell to Newfoundland, a magical place. Once there, one only dreams of returning.

Solo Show Details (in St. John's Newfoundland)

The dates are set for my solo show in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. Details are below. I will have a painting in a subsequent exhibition here as well, "Humans," in September/October. More details on that soon. Newfoundland is an incredible place, with extraordinary people, and a natural beauty which is beyond anything I have ever seen.
